What is Induction Lighting.
An electrodeless fluorescent lamp is a light source in which the power used to generate light is transferred from outside the lamp to inside the lamp using electromagnetic fields. This is in contrast with a typical lamp that uses electrical connections through the lamp envelope to transfer power, such as a typical HID streetlight.
Three major perks are:
1.Extended lamp life.
2.Magnets instead of filaments.
3.High output for low wattage.
Magentic induction technology is similar to that of fluorescent lamps. What differs from traditional fluorescent lamps is that there is no electrical connection going on inside the glass bulb; the energy is transferred through the glass envelope by electromagnetic induction. The induction coil (inductor) produces a very strong magnetic field which travels though the glass and excites the mercury atoms in the interior. The mercury atoms emit UV light, which is then down-converted to visible light by the phosphor coating on the inside of the tube.

Induction lighting systems surpass traditional High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting systems in the combined CRI and the Scotopic/Photopic (S/P) Ratios.

Induction Lamps: Why They Appear Brighter:
Below we show how photopic and scotopic values vary between different lamp types and how bright they appear to the human eye. This is known as Apparent Brightness and is not measured in the conventional lumens, lux, or footcandle readings.
There are a number of terms engineers use that reference apparent brightness; Visually Effective Lumens (VEL), Spectrally Effective Lumens (SEL), or Pupil Lumens as this measurement. Whatever phrase you choose to use, they all refer to the same thing: Apparent Brightness.
